The Summer in June

The month of June was full of summer fun!
We had a primary activity in our backyard as soon as school was let out for summer break. I don’t know if Ive mentioned that I was asked to be the primary president at church back in January. So it was really fun to get all the children together for a party!
They needed an extra tech person at Riverland Community Theatre to help run the play Peter and the Starcatcher. I took the job, which was a 10 day gig from June 8-18!

It was my first time being an official tech person. I really, really enjoyed it. I basically just pressed a light button every time the stage manager gave me the cue. The show was hilarious. And I got a stipend and comp tickets for all the shows in the summer season!

Jeremy took the boys camping one night that I was at the theatre. They had a blast at a place in Owatanna, which is about 45 minutes away.

Their hiking adventure on Saturday morning took them on some neat discoveries…
Then they got to swim at the park’s lake!
We were invited to a co-worker’s home out in the country, where the boys got to ride on a 4 wheeler thing.
This is the reader’s cafe at the school cafeteria where we get free lunch every day!
The boys like to climb on this wall after we eat lunch.
Dallin wanted me to take a picture of his silly face…
His sad face…
His happy face…
and his climbing abilities.
It was really hot one June afternoon, so we headed to the public pool! I made a deal with the boys that if we go, they can’t whine and be slow about following directions and they have to play without me in the pool. I made it very clear I would not be tolerating any whining! They did really well. I was so proud of them. There were tons of people there and nowhere for me to sit in the shade, but it was only 45 minutes of free swim before we left, which worked out perfectly.
The boys are right in the middle of this picture, tanner on the left, dallin on the right.
They are on the far end of the pool in this picture.
It quickly became our routine to climb on this wall every day after eating lunch.
Every now and then Dallin misses his nap, and then we find him asleep somewhere around dinner time.
A couple times we went rode bikes to the nearby gas station, and let the boys buy otter pops for 25 cents!
Random photo at story time.
On Father’s Day, Jeremy wore the tie that Tanner made for him at school.
It had some fun things about him written on the inside.
Dallin made this one in his primary class at church.

The boys loved their free ice cream from the ice cream truck after the music concert.

When Dallin is asleeep, he still looks like a baby to me.
I caught a toad in the backyard and showed Tanner. He finally agreed to help me hold it.
Dallin chopped snap peas for me one night. He loves helping make dinner and setting the table.
Sometimes, Tanner has a rough time with the cold lunchroom.
And with the heat outside too.
In June I attended an awesome training on using Zones of Regulation with children to help them self regulate their emotions, sensory systems, and energy levels. It has proven very succesful for kids with anxiety, SPD , autism, ADD, etc, so I am excited that Tanner’s entire school will be using this with all the kids this fall. I began integrating the Zones at home in June. The boys got pretty good at recognizing what zones they were in. I asked the boys if I could take a picture of them in their zone to help them see what they look like when they are feeling certain ways. Tanner, above, is in yellow, which is nervous, uncomfortable, wiggly, or excited. Dallin is in green which is content and calm.
The boys played a bunch of one on one basketball on the back porch! I love watching and hearing them play while I do dishes or make dinner. We had lots of beautiful warm evenings in June!
