We went to Colorado from Aug 23-29 to visit Grandma Nana and Grandpa Papa. We all had a great time! As soon as we arrived, Tanner showed off some special rocks and read a list of ideas for improving the tree house.
They got lots of golfing in throughout the week, right in grandpa’s backyard.
Jeremy and I celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary by going to the Denver Temple where we were sealed and married in 2006. It was cool to be back at that temple, it’s been awhile since there is now a Fort Collins temple that we go to in Colorado. We performed sealings for my ancestors and then took wedding remake photos!
I wore the exact same wedding dress and veil! I made a boquet out of fake flowers that I found in my mom’s basement. Jeremy wore the exact same vest! I think we look much better at age 34 than when we were married at age 22. It was also fun to do my hair the way I really wanted it and to walk around the temple grounds as a bride without the stress of getting to the reception. A kind lady who was waiting for her husband to pick her up took pictures of us with Jeremy’s phone. The weather was beautiful, much more sunny than our actual wedding day.

Stacy Burke’s family and Uncle Lyman came over for a bonfire, games and fireworks! So fun to be with Stacy again.
The little Burke boy liked golfing with Dallin.
Tanner and Dallin really liked playing and dancing with the player piano.
We got to visit the gravesite of Grandma and Grandpa Higgins and Auntie Janet.
Dallin took a picture of us.
We enjoyed a park in Loveland, rode their little train and drove around to see cool sculptures in the famous sculpture garden. The boys, especially Dallin, really enjoyed the train, but they weren’t very impressed with the sculptures.
We stopped to admire Grandpa Robertson’s gravesite.
Dallin liked seeing his name on his great grandpa’s stone.
Then we got to hang out with Great-grandma Robertson! The boys really liked all the games in her living room and ate a lot of her candy.
I showed the boys a cool trick we cousins used to do with the hammock.
That evening we went to Red Robbin for dinner with Grandma, Uncle Dave and Aunt Tina. The burgers were sooo yummy. We don’t get to eat at fun places like that very often anymore, so it was a real treat! We had a really nice visit!
Back in Longmont, Uncle Lyman read stories to the boys.
And we had a special visit from all the Northup family! These three boy cousins (they all share the same great-great grandparents) had a blast together. They ran all over the property, playing in the basement, the treehouse, the backyard, the tree swing, golfing, everywhere. So fun that even though they don’t see each other very often, they have a great little connection each time they are together.
Getting ready for a big day on Boyd Lake!
We were so excited to have Julie and her kids join us at the lake. We had the entire place to ourselves for most of the time. The weather was gorgious and the water was great! The kids played in the mud, built sand castles, played on the playground, rode bikes, and of course, rode on the jet ski! Even I went on the jet ski this time at the very end with Dallin.
Grandpa tried bribing the baby with Dr Pepper to take her first steps. She sure was motivated!!
I’m so glad I got to be with this amazing cousin of mine!
And my sweet cousin nieces!
That evening, we enjoyed the sunset in the hot tub!
One day, the boys made jam with grandpa, played in the pond, and ping pong in the basement!
Meanwhile, Jeremy and I went up to the Boulder to explore some places we’ve never been.
Yummy smells from the pines.
We ate lunch at an amazing Vegan restaurant. So delicious.
The boys added new things to the tree house!
Our last evening, the boys took another ride out on the tractor to the old tree.
Mom and I walked there and we all played “army” with our walkie talkies. There was water in the irrigation ditch, so I suggested that the soldiers should go crawdad fishing to get food. Dad didn’t think there would be any crawdads, but I proved him wrong! Tanner was really uneasy about the idea, because it wasn’t part of their normal army games. But boy, did we end up having fun. The boys were fascinated and also suprised that I was so good at it. We caught 11 of them before we got tired and did something else.
On the way back to the house, I caught a baby snake, and the boys were really amazed that I could do that.
Before going to the airport the next morning, the boys launched rockets. Woo!
And then it was time to say goodbye. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for all the fun adventures at your farm! We love you and miss you!
