For Spring Break, we went on a short, last minute trip to Wisconsin Dells!!
If you live in the Midwest, then you know that The Dells is a hoppin’ vacation place for families. We had been hearing a lot about it ever since we moved here, but decided to wait until our kids got a little older to try it out. Well, now they were older! And with Jeremy actively looking for a new job, we figured this might be one of our last chances to see what the hype was all about there. I found some last minute deals online for Wilderness Resort and got us booked for 2 nights and 3 days during our spring break week.
The drive from our home is only 2 hrs and 45 minutes. We headed out right after church on Sunday March 17. We had fun on the drive there playing car games, calling family, and drawing/writing. When we arrived in the town, we were in for some surprises. Huge resorts with themes like Mt Olympus and Noah’s Ark, murder mystery restaurants, escape rooms, magic shows, theatres, ziplines, lazer tag, golf, go cart tracks, river sports, and lots and lots of water parks. Honestly, it felt like Las Vegas of the Midwest as we drove down the main strip!
We got checked in and ate an early dinner at the Wildnerness family buffet.
Then we explored the first of three waterparks inside our hotel! We decided to try out the one with the wave pool that night. It was 35 degrees outside and 75 degrees inside. We almost felt like we were back in Puerto Rico! There were two huge slides where all 4 of us could ride down in a raft together. We had SO much fun on those.
The boys didn’t take long to fall asleep. While I did blogging and letter writing, Jeremy did work emails, and Tanner ended up in this funny position! Our hotel room was super nice.
The next morning, we were the first ones at the ropes course. The boys were really excited (esp because it was a lot like the one we tried to do in PR, but then we had to get off because of the wet paint). The course had 3 different levels and overlooked an arcade.

Tanner
All three of them up there!
There was an enormous playplace near the arcade. Can you see Dallin in the grey shirt? The boys had a lot of fun in this, too. While the boys played together, Jeremy and I talked about life and our future. We had some big decisions to make soon.
Then we swam at water park #2. This one had a lazy river, a basketball pool, 8 fun slides of all different kinds, a playground of water stuff, and a ginormous hot tub that went inside and outside.
Jeremy and the boys are in the middle of the basketball pool.
After lunch, the boys did a lazer maze, not to be confused with lazer tag, while I planned lessons and worked on letters.
During one of our breaks in our hotel room, the boys got stuck in this contraption!
We stepped out into the cold for a pizza dinner down the street. Then we checked out the dam by the river. It actually was about 40 degrees while we were there, which was pretty nice!
All set for some evening swimming!
Monday night, we explored waterpark #3. This one had some cool double people slides that we all liked going on, and Tanner got brave enough to do the big tunnel slides with just one person, where you can race another person. It also had a big hot tub and water playground.
Tuesday morning and afternoon, we hopped around between all 3 waterparks and basically just had a blast.
We checked out of the hotel and kept swimming until about dinner time.
We got dressed and headed home Tuesday evening.
Dallin zonked out after a few minutes on the road!
Jeremy and I had such an incredibly fun time playing with our kids in Wisconsin Dells. I am so glad we made this trip happen on such short notice, especially because it really was our last chance to try it all out!
